SURREAL ESTATE: THE WORK OF BIRDSALL P. BRISCOE
This is 505 East Mandalay in Olmos Park, Texas, which in case you did not know is a separate city within San Antonio with its own police and fire department. Built in 1947 for The Clemens family, the 6640 square foot manse rests on 1.30 acres and features 4 bedrooms, 5 full and 2 half baths, an elevator, a 3 car garage and a 2 bedroom garage apartment. It was designed by architect Birdsall P. Briscoe, who was also the author of Western adventure novels. Briscoe worked primarily in Houston, concentrating on the mega-wealthy River Oaks area. The Clemens House is listed with Kuper Sothebys, and at present is being marketed as one of those "price upon request" situations. The last time anybody talked dollars, though, it was offered at around $4 million.
