SURREAL ESTATE: WHEN THE WALLS COME TUMBLING DOWN

This was all over the national news! Dozens of Pulte built houses in The Hills Of Rivermist on the Northwest side are on the verge of collapse. Pulte is the parent company of Centex. The official report: "The hillside collapse yesterday within the River Mist subdivision that damaged several homes was a result of an improperly constructed retaining wall, as well as improper compaction of fill on which homes were constructed by the developer, Pulte Homes. The developer did not obtain the required City construction permits for the retaining wall that collapsed."

  1. I am curious to know when the city will have the courage to stop the unregulated bhuilding of subdivisions
I nstead of going willy nilly throughout the city looking at retaining walls the city should first disclose how many permits and inspections have been done in the last five years
then they can start inspecions with the hundreds of pulte subdivisions who did not get the permits and inspedtions
I would be suprised if even a dozen permits or inspections were ever done
    ALL POWER TO THE DEVELOPERS
after all the buy and pay for every city council member's vote

and pulte/centex is wrong wrong wrong

when building these subdivisions they have a reputation for de nuding the earth
getting rid of all the trees and vegataion so as to make it more effecient to build their large tracts of homes
they are responsible for the loss of tens of thousands of live oak trees
that is why the land is so barren
then they plant little trees and shrubs to make it look "landscaped"

  2. The natural landscape is what draws people out to the hill country in the first place. They shouldn't be allowed to cram so many houses into such a small space. On top of the Edwards aquifer recharge zone at that.
