Columnist, political commentator, humorist and best selling author Molly Ivins, who grew up in Houston, passed away on this day in 2007 from breast cancer. She was 62.

I once went to see a play in Austin and Molly Ivins was in the audience. It was the first and only time that I saw someone in the audience get a standing ovation!
