AUSTIN ANNOUNCES FOOD TAX INCREASE TO COMBAT OBESITY

Austin - Hot on the heels of an increased cigarette tax imposed as an effort to stop smoking, Texas officials announced a 112% tax increase on all food in reaction to findings that Texas has one of the nation's top obsesity ratings. Obesity leads to heart disease and is the number 2 cause of death after smoking.
State officials are hoping that increased food prices will prevent people from eating too much and therefore help lower the obesity rate. Happy April Fool's Day!
