TAVERN ON THE GREEN: 1934-2009

A New York landmark for 75 years will serve its last meal tonight. The restaurant at its epoch made $38 million in one year. http://www.tavernonthegreen.com/

Where is this place's bailout?? Doesn't anyone care about historical places anymore??
I went to Tavern on the Green in 2005, winter. Snow on the ground. Christmas in the air, and prime rib (the BEST I have ever had)on a plate so beautiful I felt guiity eating off of it. The stained glass separators in the dining rooms was so gorgeous. The wait staff was SO attentive, even though there was a ruckus with a member of our party....I weep that everything is being sold. So sad we can bail out naughty banks and make the Americans own parts of car companies to the tune of 700 billion PLUS, and can't see it in the budget to cough up some cash for this beloved place. Shame on Obama!!!
