Now most of y'all know we don't usually work Sundays, but we could not let the birthday of one of our all time favorites go with out a shout out. Happy Birthday to Edie Falco, who turns 46 today. While we still have not seen her new show "Nurse Jackie", we were glued to the TV to watch her brilliant performance as Carmela Soprano. WCM grew up Gotti adjacent on Long Island, and watching Carmela and her posse every week became such a ritual that after the pizza was delivered, all cell phones, pagers and portable electrical devices were turned the hell off so my home girl Stella (who is Sicilian) and me could have uninterrupted viewing. Everybody in the Sopranos cast was incredible, but seeing Falco's character wrestling with her morals, her religion, and her mob boss husband every week was one of the show's high points for us.
Off screen, we admire Falco's successful battle with breast cancer and her twenty some odd years of sobriety. On screen and off, she's been a fighter.
