ELVIS APPEARING AT LOCAL CHINESE RESTAURANT!

Looking for something to do this Saturday night? Here's a suggestion from our dear friends at The SA Current:
From the Red Curtain Dinner Theater comes a reprise of this outlandish original play, which centers around a sitcom setup: Elvis is booked on the same stage on the same night with his mortal nemesis — that’s right, Robert Goulet. If this isn’t interesting enough on its own, the event is hosted at Shangri-la Chinese Restaurant, and the $22 ticket price includes Chinese buffet, show, drink, and tax. Something about this whole shebang has us completely excited and frightened. If ever anything should be considered “hit or miss,” this is it. We pray it’s a hit. $22, Chinese buffet 7:15pm, show 8:15pm, Shangri-la Chinese Restaurant, 2727 Goliad Road, (210) 475-1473

THANKS DUDE, THAT DOLLAR'S GOING STRAIGHT TO AUSTIN....

Express News: AUSTIN — Adult video stores and nude dancing clubs will pay a 10 percent tax on every dollar they charge patrons for admission under a measure approved today by the Texas House.
Though is still needs a nod from the Senate, house lawmakers agreed to revoke the $5 per person tax they imposed on strip clubs in 2007 and replace it with a 10 percent tax on admission fees to all sexually oriented businesses.

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY BOY!

Marlon Brando, born today in 1924.
Always ahead of his time, the sex symbol and tough guy had a "so what" attitude on sexuality.
In Gary Carey's 1976 biography The Only Contender, Brando is quoted as saying, "Homosexuality is so much in fashion it no longer makes news. Like a large number of men, I, too, have had homosexual experiences and I am not ashamed. I have never paid much attention to what people think about me."
What a shame, three decades later, the Hollywood closets are packed to the rafters.

SEGUIN SCHOOLS TAGGED WITH PENIS GRAFFITI

From The Express News. April 2
Seguin police are searching for taggers who've been painting phallic images of male genitals around town. (We love the redundancy of this reporter's "phallic images of male genitals" ).
Last weekend, someone spray-painted the images at A.J. Briesemeister Middle School and at Seguin High School, but police say the images also have appeared elsewhere.
“It's not the first graffiti, they've been tagging other businesses in the past week,” said Lt. Juan San Miguel. “There's a movie called ‘Dangers,' and they do the graffiti in that movie.”
Hell, it must have been that movie. You know they didn't learn about the PEEN in sex-ed class!

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY GIRL!

Happy Birthday to one of our favorite songbirds, Emmylou Harris, born today in 1947.

AUSTIN ANNOUNCES FOOD TAX INCREASE TO COMBAT OBESITY

Austin - Hot on the heels of an increased cigarette tax imposed as an effort to stop smoking, Texas officials announced a 112% tax increase on all food in reaction to findings that Texas has one of the nation's top obsesity ratings. Obesity leads to heart disease and is the number 2 cause of death after smoking.
State officials are hoping that increased food prices will prevent people from eating too much and therefore help lower the obesity rate. Happy April Fool's Day!

WE WANT TO THANK THE GOVERNMENT ONCE AGAIN

We want to acknowledge how much we appreciate our federal and state government's concern for our health and well being. By taxing the living F**K out of cigarettes in an effort to help us live longer, we can face news like this:
The recession is projected to wipe out annual cost-of-living increases for 50 million Social Security beneficiaries for the next three years, something that hasn't happened since automatic adjustments were adopted in 1975.

YESTERDAY'S BIRTHDAY BOY MAY BE GETTING A BELATED PRESENT

WASHINGTON – Sen. John McCain wants a presidential pardon for Jack Johnson, who became the nation's first black heavyweight boxing champion 100 years before Barack Obama became its first black president.
McCain feels Johnson was wronged by a 1913 conviction of violating the Mann Act by having a consensual relationship with a white woman — a conviction widely seen as racially motivated.
"I've been a very big fight fan, I was a mediocre boxer myself," McCain, R-Ariz., said in a telephone interview. "I had admired Jack Johnson's prowess in the ring. And the more I found out about him, the more I thought a grave injustice was done."
